Dr Matthew Lewis is a Consultant in Gastroenterology, specialising in diseases of the gut, pancreas and liver. He sees patients with a range of symptoms including indigestion, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, rectal bleeding and jaundice. He carries out Gastroscopies, Flexible Sigmoidoscopies and Colonoscopies.
His medical training took place in Manchester and North West England. In 2002, he started as Consultant at City Hospital, Birmingham. He was Executive Medical Director at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust from 2018 - 2021. In October 2021, he took up the post of Executive Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands, based in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and has been an accredited colonoscopist for the bowel cancer screening programme since 2008.
